The purpose of a charitable foundation is to administer funds and property left at various tomes by public spirited citizens for the benefit of people in a designated area. Gifts may be made to the foundation by living individuals, in which case an income tax deductible receipt can be issued. Often, bequests are made to foundations from estates and wills.Board
